Hosting Handbook

Hosting Olios on a regular basis fosters a new kind of social gathering and supports personal creative practices.

    • Explore our ClubHouse Catalogue and select the Olio that resonates with you + fill out the quick form.

    • We will craft your invitation with Luma and send it to you. You can add any particular info about your hosting space, and details about BYOB or what you will provide, if anything (not expected).

    • Share the love! Spread the word among your friends and within the Olio community on Whatsapp. You, as the host, are allowed 5 invites who can come for free!

    • Get the slideshow set up on the screen and check your audio before your guests arrive.

    • Transform your space into an Olio sanctuary for meaningful conversations. We recommend u-shaped seating so that people can see each other & the screen prompts.

    • There may be writing prompts in your Olio and if so, feel free to have some instrumental music lined up to play while people are writing.

    • When the group is ready, you can start the first slide. As the host, you’ll read the welcome slide aloud and then you can choose whether you would like to be the slide reader for the evening or you can enlist the group to take turns reading.

    • Each slide is timed so that conversations don’t go too off the rails and so that we can respect everyone’s time.

    • When the slideshow ends, it’s up to you to say goodnight or keep the conversation going at your place or a nearby spot.

Communication:

Keeping the momentum

Connect with Ease

  • You can always communicate with your guests in your Luma invitation by sending out a group-wide text.

Facilitation Tips

  • If you feel comfortable going first when there is a group prompt, it can help model and encourage the depth you want to experience at your Olio.

  • Keep an eye on the timer; if conversation veers into “off-the-rails” territory you can always bring the group back to focus by referencing the amount of time left.

  • Remember you are hosting an “Olio” not a “Think Olio” or a “class” or “workshop” etc. Olios are guided conversations and activities that nurture our creativity.
