Think Olio is an ongoing experiment in lifelong learning to encourage curiosity, creative living, and face-to-face conversation.
Since 2015, we have hosted events that span from intellectually rigorous to curiously playful to therapeutic and everything in between. From the iconic Rare Book Room at the Strand Bookstore and Brooklyn Boulders climbing gym to our beloved local cafes and friends' living rooms, we love turning unlikely venues into places for learning and connection. We are finally getting a space of our own to share with our beloved community.
The Olio Lighthouse: A Home for Lifelong Learners
An Olio is a miscellaneous collection of art, literature, and people. Our intention with our programming is that every time you leave one of our events, you’ll feel energized, connected, and a little more human.
We believe in the power of belonging as an antidote to feelings of isolation and competition. When people feel they belong, just as they are…a radical shift starts to take place: walls come down, smiles naturally occur, and connecting with others feels effortless. Whether we are dancing to live music or reading quietly with a glass of wine, this is at the heart of every gathering that we organize.
What to expect at the Lighthouse
Learning: We’ll meet your many curiosities with intimate lectures and in-depth seminars in the arts and humanities.
Study Halls: Quiet spaces to focus—whether on a project, a book, or even a crossword—while enjoying good company and music.
Circles: Drop-in support and affinity groups led by therapists, where we share truths, learn communication tools, build mutual aid, and form trusted relationships for personal growth.
Tastings: Coffee, wine, and international spirits brought back from OlioTrips, plus occasional member pop-up dinners.
Music: DJs, sound artists, and musicians host vinyl nights, album-listening parties, and live performances.
Health & Movement: Classes and practices including breathwork, shiatsu, yoga, dance, and more.
Generative Workshops: From writing to performing, we'll nurture our inner artist and have fun with immersive weekends and seminars.
Social Gatherings: Light-hearted and meaningful ways to connect—through the Olito social club and Olio date nights.

This has been a dream of ours for a long time, but opening a venue in NYC is a big decision. We've put all of our savings into this project and we want to make it as beautiful and welcoming as possible. This is where you come in.
